The Process of “Revolution” in the History of Humanity
History records many movements aimed at the renewal and revitalisation of various fields of activities and also the betterment of society.
The word “revolution” was given to the radical movements of changing the environment as well as of dramatic changes in scientific or technical aspects of human activities. However, humanity did not necessarily solve its basic problems through these changes or revolutions which occurred in history:
P. Ikeda explains :
There are all sorts of revolutions: political revolutions, economic revolutions, industrial revolutions, scientific revolutions, artistic revolutions… But no matter what one changes, the world will never get any better as long as people themselves remain selfish and lacking in compassion.
In that respect, human revolution [of the individual] is the most fundamental of all revolutions, and at the same time, the most necessary revolution for humankind.
